St Mary's Church, Andover
Joint concert with Norwegian male voice choir Olavs Menn
Free admission, with retiring collection

Olavs Menn are named after Olav Trygvasson, who was king for Norway 995-1000 and played an important role in the conversion of Norway to Christianity. They are visiting Andover specifically to sing on the site of Olav's own conversion to Christianity in 994.

The choir was originally formed to sing with Norwegian National Opera in Oslo as soldiers for King Olav in a production of Thora på Rimol, an opera by Hjalmar Borgstrøm. Since then, they have continued as an independent choir singing a wide range of secular and sacred music. Their programme for this concert will display the breadth of their repertoire. They will also sing some pieces together with The Harmonium Singers, who themselves will sing sets of pieces by Norwegian and British composers.  A unique event, not to be missed!
